What is AgEdLibrary.com?

AgEdLibrary.com is a Web-based method for providing students with content traditionally found in textbooks. The information is available to any subscriber who pays the applicable subscription fees.

bullet

How is information in the Library presented?

A chapter in a traditional textbook consists of 25 to 30 pages and covers multiple learning objectives. The information in AgEdLibrary.com is broken down into smaller units, called E-units. Each E-unit is 6 to 8 pages in length and covers one or two specific learning objectives. Each page of an E-unit looks exactly like a page in a color textbook.

bullet

Why are most E-units 6 to 8 pages in length?

Students can easily become overwhelmed when assigned a 30-page chapter. Breaking the content into smaller units makes it more student-friendly. At the same time, having the information in smaller units gives us the capability to arrange the units to follow with the sequence and organization of a particular course outline.

bullet

What does an E-unit consist of?

Each 6- to 8-page E-unit includes learning objectives, key terms, text at an appropriate reading level, colorful images, review questions, reinforcement activities, and Web links.

bullet

What file formats are the E-units presented in?

The files are available in two formats. The Adobe Acrobat files have the appearance of pages in a traditional textbook. The Microsoft Word files contain only the text. They allow you to customize the information to address particular student IEPs.

bullet

Can I print and/or save the files?

Yes. Any paid subscriber can print the pages or save the files on a computer.

bullet

How does a subscription work?

Subscriptions are available on a one-, two-, or three-year basis. When you send us your purchase order (either by mail or online order form), we will email you a list of all access codes generated for your account along with a summary of your user name and password. When an access code is installed on a computer, the E-unit files can be opened. As long as a subscription remains in effect, the associated access codes are able to open the E-unit files both on the site and saved to your computer.

The ability to log into www.AgEdLibrary.com will remain in tact as long as you have one access code tied to your account that is still active.  Complete summaries of access codes and their corresponding statuses can be printed out for each account upon logging into the Ag Ed Library.

bullet

How much does a subscription cost?

A basic subscription includes access codes for 20 computers. A one-year subscription is $599. A two-year subscription is $959, and a three-year subscription is $1,199.

bullet

How can the 20 access codes be used?

The access codes can be loaded onto computers in your lab, or they can be assigned to students for their home computers. Students can then access the information from home.

bullet

Will the E-units be regularly updated?

Yes. The E-units will be regularly updated to reflect professional and technical changes. As long as your subscription is valid, you will have access to these updated E-units.

bullet

Will there be new E-units added to the Library for other courses?

Yes. As new E-units are added in specialized course areas, all current subscribers will have automatic access to them.

bullet

What are the advantages of a subscription?

A subscription offers multiple advantages. First, textbook-like content is offered at a fraction of the cost. Second, the information is presented in a format your students will like. Third, you have immediate access as updates are made. Finally, since the E-units are organized around course outlines, you can easily locate the E-units you need.

bullet

How can I be sure of the quality of the E-units in the Library?

The Library is owned by CAERT, Inc. Our staff has more than 100 years of combined experience in the development and design of materials for agricultural education students and teachers. CAERT’s Lesson Plan Libraries serve as the source for ag education curriculums in numerous states.

bullet

If I am already using CAERT’s lesson plans, can the E-units be integrated with them?

The E-units can be integrated with CAERT’s lesson plans. This is especially true in those states that are using state-specific lesson plan libraries. We can create state subscriptions to the library that will be integrated with the lesson plans and matrices.
